When throwing around idea’s for this week’s blog it came to me that this is the week to keep it simple. It seems appropriate with the impending holidays to take this time to give my Oscar Speech, or my version, the Blah Blah Blah Blah Blogger Speech.

As the great Sally Field so eloquently put it in her 1985 Oscar acceptance speech when accepting the award for Best Actress in Places In the Heart, http://www.spike.com/video-clips/nmhmna/sally-fields-1985-oscar-acceptance-speech“You like me!!!,  You like me!!”, I feel the welling up as well, with similar emotions as Sally’s at the end of 2011, for a years worth of what seems to be shaping into one of the best moves this girl has made in both her life and career path, just  behind giving birth to her 2 rock star children (they’re not actual rock stars…although one thinks she is).

In all seriousness, although I am by no means even coming close to comparing myself to the fabulous Gidget, I do now relate to her overwhelming feelings of gratitude and humbleness as though I am accepting an award…my award being instead of a gold(en) statuette of a naked man, the great gift of clients who have believed in me and who have given me a chance to help guide them in new ways of growing their businesses, and for colleagues, clients, friends and family who have encouraged me and read my blog. For giving me a chance to  help them. For trusting in me . Sally’s response was such an honest ,  vulnerable, spontaneous outburst that so many of us think but would never think to announce to the world, all watching…the  raw, un-edited amazement, and gratitude, even for a movie star, that folks actually appreciate you, that they “like you”….that acceptance speech has stuck with many of us throughout the years.

The true gift here has been a surprise, to myself more than anyone, and that has been writing what you are now reading. Blogging has, for me, taken on a life of its’ own and become a bigger more passionate focus and space in my business than I ever thought possible, for 2 reasons: first because it has sparked my deeply held secret of a love of writing, and given it a voice that makes sense, and is usable, but also because of the great response to it, which has really caught me off guard. I’ll be the first to admit that when I bump into someone at the gym or at Starbucks who tell me they love my blog, or that they’ve gotten great tips from my blog, or that they –are you ready- anticipate my blog on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings….my heart skips a beat. I cannot tell you the rush of that…knowing that what I’ve come to love doing actually helps, entertains or amuses-(and that’s ok too-more than ok)???? Are you kidding? Joy. Gratitude. Excitement for the New Year and what is to come. The wonderment of the unknown, the commitment to the future…I am so lucky and so blessed to be along for the ride with so many of you taking this journey  into the future.

So that’s it…a thank you, holiday blog. Thank you for giving me forum, thank you for allowing me in, thank you for trusting in me, thank you for investing in me. Here’s to a 2012 filled with wonder, love and prosperity for all. This is a sacred place. I will NOT let you down.

“You like me!!!”
