I’m running a short survey to discover which day of the week you are more likely to read a blog….well, ok, my blog. There are so many theories on reader trends, and I’m finding that none are across the board, at least in my circles. Damn my diverse group of friends and colleagues!
So please do me a favor and give me your opinions on when you’re most likely to take the time to open up a blog over a cup of coffee, or large glass of wine, and be enthralled by my witty yet oh so valuable information:
Mondays– because it takes you a while to work into work mode after the weekend?
Wednesdays– hump day?
Fridays– because you’re so burnt out by then that you’re starting to wind down and need my cheery tips and observations to help you a) escape, or b)
into work mode for one last day, or c) be amused?
Or another day of the week?
Or…never??? if this is your answer i’m happy to remove your from the list. Well, full disclosure, perhaps not happy, but will remove you, grudgingly. Note to close friends and family: you are exempt from this choice. Just ask my brother who found this out the hard way.
Thanks for your responses, in advance. Kidding aside, your opinions are very valuable to me. Now i’ll go post this on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter like a good Social Media Marketer should.
Wednesday – gotta have something to get me through the week.. monday’s are crazy and so are fridays.. bc i want to leave early on both days!
I feel that I would most likely read your blog on Friday. I hope this helps 🙂
not monday or friday….
probably tuesday or wednesday
Wednesday…..how’s that for short.
Monday.
It Makes No difference to meNancy
Tuesday-Thursday between 10am and 2pm. In other words, after the Monday and morning rush and before the afternoon, Friday get it done before we go onto something else. Good lunchtime read is nice to have mid-week.
Hmm… I like everything mid-day midweek… It’s when I hit my stride. By the end of the week I’m burnt out from over-load!
Hey, when you wanna’ have that beer? Dance card soon!
Interesting…actually – I read items as I get them if I have time, so it’s not day-dependent. However, if I put on my PR hat – the best day to go out with news is Tues-Thurs. Trying to reach moms/dads? – later in the evening, early morning, or lunchtime as that’s when they check emails. etc.
depends on when i notice it in my feed (or email) and if the title attracts my attention. monday’s not typically a big reading day.
Thank you, Suzen —
Monday through Thursday, 9 to 5:)
Hi Lewis!
Agree with most comments above. Personally, as long as the subject matter is compelling (Title of the blog is critically important), I read it irrespective of the day. However, in my experience Tues or Wed seem to work best at around 10.30 – 11AM, which hits EST and PST just about right.
I do catch up on web reading on Mondays or Tuesdays.
LOL. have you spoken to Rosa recently?
Wow! wow! i should ask for more opinions, or offer beer more often. So basically what I suspected was correct. Blogs should be posted every single day because there is no 1 day that is best for everyone!! I tend to lean towards early Wednesday morning though, then again on friday for anyone who didn’t catch it mid week. The survey says…..
you know Rosa, i struggle with this because it makes sense, and I think that in the past was probably more of an obvious choice. now so much is being thrown at us from so many different directions it doesn’t seem like there is 1 obvious choice anymore. i think the only solution here is posting daily!!! just kidding. folks would throw us in the spam basket.
a doctor/ client responded immediately to this via email that for him, as you’re saying Rick, it’s pretty much catch as catch can for busy business people. I think he also responded quickly because I mentioned beer. As have most of you. hmmmmmm…..
end of the week Matt. Will be ready for a beer too. And i don’t even drink beer. “liked” your facebook business page by the way.
I would expect nothing more. I mean less. I mean I knew short would get you ! 😉
Yes Jenn, can’t ignore the target markets. Basically we’re saying anytime!
Thanks Suzanne
I need to work on having my titles include the words “sex” and “free cash”. Now if i could only figure out a way to weave those subjects into the blogs I’d be golden!
Does an answer like ‘I read it whatever day I can’ count? 🙂
Any day but Monday’s….now where’s my beer 🙂
Since I am on the computer so much for my 8-5 M-F job, but less frequently over the weekend, my best time range would be after 10pm Monday to about 11am Friday.
absolutely. look around- you’re not alone!
name the time and place, Jenn! it’s along, hot summer
you got it laura! look at all the Brookfield people looking for their beer….lol!!
Suzen,
As in email marketing, the day and time of deploying an email is changing (used to be mainly Tue-Thu 10-3). As more and more people use different tools to read their messages (iPads, iPods, Smartphones, laptops, etc.), blogs, papers, books, social pages, etc, they are doing so anytime. So…I believe there is no magic formula as people will read it when they’re ready to read it. Further, one might receive it and “park it” until when they’re ready to read it at a later time. Key to make sure that the email is not deleted: the title/subject line!
agreed, david! and as you can see from the above responses, what you say rings true across the board..
saturday at 3am (after la caverna)!
Any day that you can spare a moment (hopefully it will not take longer than that) as all good real estate people know we work 24/7. Hey, yeah, were’s the beer???
for you we’d make it a dry martini posing as a beer….
any day works. In real estate agents work 24/7. When you deal in the hundreds of thousands of dollars for a client you assume a responsibilty that is acutely time sensitive.
Fridays after lunch – taking the time to plan for the following week and catch up on news. Beginning of the week too hectic with business to fire up etc. More time for reading blogs then.
Thanks Lynn! i did receive!
